CFI Accepting Applications for Student Enrollment

Student recruitment for the programs of study at the Laurel County Schools Center for Innovation (CFI) for the 2018-19 academic year is now underway! Students interested in participating in the programs at the CFI can visit with their high school guidance counselor for information, assistance, and to pick up an admissions application. “We are pleased to be able to offer multiple Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs and a number of diverse career pathways for students at the CFI.  We are enjoying tremendous success at the CFI in both our academic and technical courses, remarked Dr. James Davis, CFI Principal.

The CFI offers five programs of study: Allied Health Science, Biomedical Science, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, and Media Arts Technology.  All programs at the CFI provide students with the academic education and technical training needed to earn college credit through articulated course credit agreements, dual credit course agreements, as well as advanced placement courses.   All programs at the CFI provide students the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications.  Students may pursue certifications in the areas of Computer Assisted Drafting, Electrical Technician, Adobe Technician, Medicaid Nurse Aide, Patient Care Technician, Pharmacy Technician, EKG Technician, Medical Administrative Assistant, and Emergency Medical Technician.

The CFI serves Laurel County School District students from grades 10-12 and provides core course in English, Mathematics, and Technical Education.  Students attend the CFI half-day and their respective home high school the other half-day five days per week for the entire academic year and for up to three years to complete the program of study. Interested students who attend South Laurel High School or North Laurel High School can pick up an application from their guidance office, discuss their intent to apply for admissions with their family, and then submit a completed application for admissions to their high school guidance office or directly to the CFI.  For more information about the programs of study at the CFI you can contact the school at 606-862-5580 and schedule a visit with a program coordinator.
