My name is Leslie Larkey and I am a teacher here at North Laurel High School.  I grew up in Rockcastle County and graduated from Rockcastle County High School.  I went to college at Eastern Kentucky University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.  I worked as a registered nurse at both the hospital and home health setting.  I decided to go back to college to be a teacher.  I earned my teaching certificate in Special Education (Learning and Behavior Disorders Primary through 12th grade) at Union College.  I also earned a Master’s degree through Union College in Special Education. I am currently working on my 2nd Masters in the Teacher Leader Program for my Rank 1.  I am also certified as a Career and Technical Education Teacher.  I am married to Chris Larkey.  Chris is a History teacher here at North Laurel High School and the Head Coach of the North Laurel High School Jaguars Football team.  I am a mother of four wonderful children: Christian, Kierra, Camden, and Kiley.

I currently teach the School Within A School here at North Laurel High School. This program is a credit recovery program for special education students who are credit deficient.  The main objective of this program is to help students stay on track and to be able to graduate from high school on time. I also teach two resource classes for Algebra 1.5.

It is my pleasure to teach here at North Laurel High School and be a part of the North Family.  I welcome parents to contact me here at the school anytime you have a question or concern. I will be glad to hear your input.  I also encourage all parents to be an active participant in your child’s education and show support for our school.
