To all of our students,

We know that these past several weeks were difficult.  They were difficult for us as well.  We missed you.  As teachers, we're not wired to be connected to you electronically.  We're wired to be connected to you in person, where we can see your smiling faces, hear your laughter, and feel your hugs and high fives.  But we learned to adapt and learned some new skills along the way.  Things may not be the way we'd like them to be right now, and the school year may have ended differently than we would have preferred, but we survived.  And we know that you have the strength and the resiliency to not only survive this too, but many more things that you will encounter in your life as well!  In fact, we know that you won't only survive, but that you will thrive!  Why?  Because you're a Thoroughbred!  And Thoroughbreds set the pace, lead the race, and finish strong!  None of us knows what the future holds or how much longer we'll have to live in a "new normal," but we want to encourage you to stay the course and finish strong, not just through a global pandemic, but through your life!  We know you can do it!  But just in case, here are a few "Messages of Hope" from us to you, to encourage you and to show you just how much we care!  Never forget who you are.  Never forget that you are our students.  But also never forget that you are a Thoroughbred and that you can do great things!

We love and miss you!

To all of our students,

We know that doing school at home isn't easy.  We're right there with you!  We're doing school from home too, and it's not fun!  We would much rather see your smiling faces in our classrooms each day, because this doing school from home thing is hard!  We've never been quite so flustered.  We're having to teach to computer screens, emails, children who aren't ours (well, they may be our own children, but they're not our students), pets, and empty rooms.  We wear our pajamas to work, and it's not even officially a pajama day!  We can't see you, hear you, or hug you.  We don't have loud bells and rigid schedules to keep us on track.  We can't find Smiley Fries and Bosco Sticks in the grocery stores.  We don't get a planning period.  And we can't even go out to recess.  There are no morning announcements.  There's no milk break in the afternoon.  There's no one to name for the Hats' Off Club.  And there's no room to send our pets to for detention when they need it.  (And some of them definitely need it!)  All in all, we're just at our wits' end.  If you could only see us most days.  We're a mess without you!  Well, just watch the video, and maybe you'll understand!

We love and miss you!
