Principal's Message

Welcome to Johnson Elementary, home of the Eagles. Our principal is Mrs. Jamie Gilliam, a lifelong Laurel County resident. Mrs. Gilliam received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education at Eastern Kentucky University and a graduate degree from Eastern Kentucky University in Educational Leadership. Summer Fun Days

Johnson Elementary will be having three Summer Fun Days in July.  We invite you to attend on July 11 for homemade ice cream with Splat The Cat, July 18th for Expressionism painting and on July 22 for exercise and nutrition.  Come join the fun!

Summer Reading Summer Reading 2019

You are invited to bring your child to Summer Reading on June 4, June 6, June 11, June 13 and June 19.  Reading will be from 9:00 A.M. - 11:30 A.M.  Students entering first grade must have a parent present with them.  Accelerated Reading points earned during Summer Reading will count toward the 2019-2020 school year.

We will be having a store this summer.  You will receive one book buck for each AR point earned.  Book bucks will be used to purchase items from our store on June 19.  This activity is sponsored by the Johnson Elementary Family Resource Center and Johnson Elementary PTO.

Supplies:
1-pack of washable markers
1-pencil pouch
1-pack of large Ticonderoga pencils
1-large backpack (Make sure a folder will fit in it)
1-small blanket and pillow for nap time
1-change of clothes in a Ziplock bag to be kept at school (please print your child's name on the bag in permanent marker)
1-A great smile on the first day of school!

*48 pencils (#2 lead & no plastic coatings as they do not sharpen in the pencil sharpener)
*4 packs of crayons – 24 pack no larger
*glue sticks (8-10 sticks)
*scissors
*2 plastic/vinyl 2 pocket folders with the 3-prong insert for paper (Wal-Mart carries them. The brand 5 Star holds up the best.
*pencil cap erasers
*2 vinyl 3-hole punched pencil pouches with the see-through front for use in folders
*pencil pouch (no boxes)
*earbuds

Other supplies that would be greatly appreciated any time throughout the year:
*tissues 
*extra pencils (yellow are fine)

Due to space, please do not send:
* trapper keepers/binders/3 ring notebooks
* rolling backpacks or gym bags
*pencil sharpeners
