Principal's Message

Tyler McWhorter

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students:

To say the last week has been unpredictable would be a major understatement.  Our lives have been interrupted unlike most of us have ever witnessed.  As families and government officials make plans only to have them changed the next day, if not the next hour, the school system is having to adjust daily as well.  It is our sincere hope that while we follow the government “recommendation” of closing school we are still able to provide our students with a quality education.

As of March 18, 2020, the plan is as follows:

  • Students will complete assignments for the week of March 23rd – 27th
    • These assignments are a mixture of paper/pencil work as well as completing work online.  You will see that a few assignments can be completed with paper/pencil OR online.
  • All work is to be completed by the end of the day on Friday, March 27th
  • Teachers will be available the week of March 23rd – 27th to answer questions that students have about their assignments.  Communication between teachers and students regarding questions about assignments will occur through Remind.  A paper enclosed will inform students how to join Remind and be able to communicate with their teachers.  Teachers will also be checking their school email.
  • An enclosed paper from each teacher details what is to be completed each day.  This can also be found on each teacher’s website.
  • Some assignments will be completed on Google Classroom.  Directions are enclosed on how to get to Google Classroom and codes are provided so you can join the correct class.
  • Paper/pencil assignments are due when we return on April 6, 2020.
  • Students completing all work with passing grades will earn 55 points for the week of March 23rd – 27th

As we move forward, it is going to be more important than ever that every student has internet access and a device that connects to the internet.  There are companies that are offering free internet service during this time for families that do not currently have internet.  If you do not have internet access, I recommend that you look into these opportunities.

We are truly going through uncharted waters, so to speak, at this point.  This is new for all of us.  It is very important that during this temporary change that we all work together and have patience with each other.  Together we will make it through this and will be better off for having done so.

It is my sincere hope to see all our students return on Monday, April 6, 2020.  Please do not hesitate to contact the teachers with any questions regarding assignments via email or Remind.  Also feel free to call the school with any general questions.

I wish all our families health and happiness during this trying time.
