How To Watch and Attend South Laurel Basketball Games

As we prepare for the 2020-2021 basketball season at South Laurel High School, there are new guidelines for admitting fans into our home athletic events. The voucher process is to ensure that SLHS can control the number of fans allowed to safely attend our athletic events.  To view the guidelines for attending SLHS basketball games either in person or online, please click here.

50 Years of Cardinal Pride

South Laurel High School is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the building opening for the inaugural school year as Laurel County High School in 1970. Administration, faculty, staff, students, and student-athletes have been commemorating the traditions of Cardinal Pride during the 2020-2021 school year. Events kicked off during Homecoming Week with 70’s Spirit Day, the presentation of a commemorating plaque, cake, refreshments, and special guests Dr. Doug Bennett, Mrs. Denise Griebel, and Mr. Tharon Hurley, along with other district staff. Homecoming Week concluded with a special crowning of the 2020 Homecoming Queen by the first Laurel County Homecoming Queen from 1970, Connie Patton-Hensley. Trey Kissel and Brooke Davis were crowned Homecoming King and Queen.

Principal Jeremy Kidd stated that celebrating positive aspects of our school and continuing to focus on the school culture aspect of the SLHS 3-point plan is even more important this year during the uncertain times of a changing educational environment. SLHS plans to continue celebrating tradition and incorporating the anniversary into athletics, media, and school climate throughout the year.
