The Joy Award

Last Updated: 7/6/2018 8:32 PM

Several years ago we started giving away a very special award called the "JOY" award.  This award was created to honor the memory of our friend and colleague, the late Elizabeth "Beth" Denman.  Ms. Denman was an inspiration to everyone who knew her, she brought "JOY" to our Bush Elementary family everyday.    Ms. Denman's family had a special meaning for the word JOY.  The J stands for Jesus, the O stands for Others, and lastly, the Y stands for Yourself.

The "JOY" award was created to recognize a student who exudes Ms. Denman's outstanding character in their daily walk in life.  The personal characteristics that we strive to achieve as adults are rarely seen in a child, but a few children will possess those characteristics.  The "JOY" award is presented each year to a student who possesses love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.  This person is honorable, works for others in the community and lastly has high expectations for him or herself in every way, including academics.

We are truly honored and blessed to be able to present this award on Beth's behalf.

Thank you, Beth, for being such a wonderful inspiration to our school, community, and our world.  Thank you for being our "JOY".
