Parent/Guardian Attendance/Participation Information for 2020-2021 - Revised November 2020

Parent/Guardian Attendance/Participation Information for 2020-2021

Revised November 2020

For the 2020-2021 school year, the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) requires school districts to track participation for ALL students (both In-person and HCI/Online) for every school day and for every class period for middle and high schools.

ATTENDANCE = PARTICIPATION

The Kentucky Department of Education will run a district participation report from Infinite Campus and will report that data through the KDE website and to the Legislative Research Commission  (October 2020, January 2021, and July 2021).

Attendance - In-Person Students:

  • Students who attend in-person classes will be considered present/participating by their physical presence in the classroom.

Attendance - Home Correspondence (HCI)/Online Students:

UPDATED: 11/19/20

  • Students should complete the Google Attendance Form in each teacher’s Google Classroom each day to be counted as present/participating. Middle and High School students should complete the Google Attendance Form for each class period each day to be counted present/participating.
  • The daily participation/attendance Google Attendance Form for HCI students may be submitted in real time during the school day or at times outside of normal school hours. However, the Attendance Form must be submitted before 11:59 pm each night for each class.
  • Attendance may lag five school days behind for HCI/Online students in Infinite Campus.
  • If you believe there is a discrepancy concerning student attendance in Infinite Campus after five days of the date in question, please complete the “Request for Attendance Review” form, attach the evidence, and submit to the classroom teacher within ten school days of the date in question.

Compulsory attendance laws remain in effect for the 2020-2021 school year.  Non-participation days without valid excuse (parent/doctor note) are considered unexcused absences.  Students who do not participate for three (3) days without a valid excuse are considered truant.  Students who do not participate for six (6) days without a valid excuse are considered habitually truant.  Please refer to the Student Code of Acceptable Conduct and Discipline for full attendance policies.
