Colony Elementary is the recent recipient of a Steele-Reese Foundation grant and Dollar General Youth Literacy Foundation grant. The $23,000 in grant funds have purchased new library books and Lego Education products as part of the Colony Elementary library revitalization. During a recent S.T.E.A.M. workshop, students enjoyed many hands-on activity stations with their new Lego Education products. Students explored different Lego activities, including constructing an ice cream cone from Legos and building a tower. Students also enjoyed viewing and reading from the 1,578 newly purchased library books.
The Steele-Foundation is a charitable trust committed to supporting rural communities and non-profit organizations located in Idaho, Montana, and part of Kentucky. The Dollar General Youth Foundation has awarded over $186 million in grants across the United States to help individuals learn to read.
Congratulations to Colony Elementary on being the recipient of these two grants!
