London Elementary Recognized by the Office of State School Security Marshal

London Elementary hosted some special guests on Wednesday, January 12, as district administration and officers from the Office of State School Security Marshal stopped by to commend school staff and administration on how they responded to a recent threat of violence against London Elementary.  Ben Wilcox, Kentucky School Security Marshal, presented London Elementary Principal Tracie Smith with a certificate of appreciation for the staff and administrators at London Elementary for their commitment to the security and safety of their students and their co-workers.  Mr. Wilcox remarked that London Elementary was a model of what other schools should follow in response to a school threat.

Following the certificate presentation, Stuart Adams and Steve Moore, Office of State School Security Marshall Regional Investigators, visited with London Elementary staff to express their appreciation for how they responded to the recent threat and their execution of school safety protocol.

The number one priority of Laurel County Public Schools is to keep our students and staff safe.  Our district expresses our sincere gratitude to our local, regional, state, and federal law enforcement agencies for their continued support and partnerships in keeping our schools safe.  Our district is also appreciative of our School Law Enforcement Officers (LEOSA's), who are familiar faces to our staff and students, along with our School Resource Officers (SRO's).  They have become part of our school families and are integral to keeping our students and schools safe.
