On Friday, May 10th, Mr. Garrison Burchell’s Civics and AP Government and Politics classes received a special video from the office of Governor Matt Bevin. Earlier in the school year, students contacted the governor to ask him questions regarding the importance of state government. Governor Bevin sent a personalized video answering questions from both the freshman and senior students. The video, spanning over ten minutes, touched on a variety of topics. Governor Bevin specifically addressed the students by name and answered the questions in great detail. Some of topics included how young women can get involved in the political process, school safety, how the governor balances his political and family life, and why Governor Bevin chose to run for office. Overall, it was a great opportunity for the students of North Laurel High School to interact with the highest elected official in the state of Kentucky.
