General Music is the study of music appreciation, theory, history, and performance. Subject matter will include: playing on instruments, alone and with others, improvise melodies, compose and arrange music in a variety of ways, read and notate music, listen, analyze and describe music, evaluate music and musical performances, make connections between music, other arts and other subjects, understand music as it relates to history, and sing alone and with others, many different kinds of songs.
All general music students will be expected to:

Week One: Fundamental Review Week Six: Classical
Week Two: Woodwind, Brass Week Seven: Romantic, Impressionist
Week Three: Percussion, Guitars and fretted instruments Week Eight: Blues, Rock, Reggae, Country
Week Four: Keyboard Family, Vocal Week Nine: Form
Week Five: Baroque
