Robinson Scholars Program



The Robinson Leaders Program seeks to increase first generation students’ ability to attend college and pursue a bachelor’s degree. Those selected to the Robinson Leaders Program will be eligible to participate in enrichment activities that emphasize academic preparation for college and that develop students’ social, career, and leadership skills. Activities and services for students in the leaders program include:


  • Career and College Coaching
  • ACT Prep Workshops
  • Leadership, Career, & Academic Workshops
  • Summer Academic Enrichment Camps
  • Financial Aid Workshops
  • College Visits
  • Cultural Trips
  • Community Service Opportunities
  • Financial assistance for college applications, college courses taken during high school, the  ACT, and  AP exams
  • Students selected as a Robinson Leader  are eligible to receive one of our scholarship opportunities. 


To be considered for inclusion into the Robinson Leaders Program a student:


  • Must be in the 9th grade.
  • Must be a first-generation college bound student. Students’ parents, stepparents living in the home,  or legal guardians cannot hold four-year college degrees at the time of acceptance into the program.
  • Must be a resident of one of our 29 service area counties in eastern Kentucky or a Student at STEAM Academy in Lexington, KY.
  • Applicants will be selected based on factors such as enrollment in the pre-college curriculum, academic achievement, participation in community service, extracurricular activities, personal enrichment, and need for financial aid.


The application link listed below will be available October 4th, 2016 until January 27th,  2017, 4:00 p.m. We must receive supplementary paper information in our Jackson office by January 27th, 4:00 p.m. Please note that we can only review complete applications, which includes the online and paper portions of the application. Paper portions of the application includes:


·         3 letters of recommendation

·         High School Transcript

·         Copy of parents 2015 tax return or other financial documentation

·         Copy of 8th grade KPREP, EXPLORE, PLAN, or ACT scores

·         Copy of attendance record including unexcused absences
