CFI Families and Students: During the Home Correspondence Instruction (HCI) you will be able to complete your learning activity assignments online from the teacher web page (https://www.laurel.kyschools.us/olc/cfimediaarts) OR if you do not have internet access you can pick up a HCI packet at the CFI between 8am-3pm. You do not have to do online work AND the paper packets. If you have any questions please call the CFI at 862-5580. Thanks!
Packets may be turned in at the CFI from 8am - 3pm. If your student needs a packet for the remainder of HCI please let us know via email or calling the school at 862-5580.
All students in the Media Arts Program have been using Schoology (Schoology.com) for work in my classes since the beginning of the year. Since all of our students are already familiar with that, I will be delivering all HCI lessons and assignments through Schoology. If your student has trouble logging in, please email me and I will get you their login credentials.
Additionally, I will be sending out updates via Remind 101. On the HCI Contact information page linked from this one, students can find their code for their class. They can sign up at Remind.com or by texting the code to 81010. I also want to encourage students to check their school email accounts at least twice daily.
I will post announcements on Schoology, Remind 101, and on my class webpages, you'll find on this page. Due dates for assignments will be announced on these platforms. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at Shane.Smith@laurel.kyschools.us . I will be keeping virtual office hours of 8 am to 3 pm daily during HCI.
Finally, I will be emailing students daily at around 8:00 a.m. Students, please check your student emails around this time to receive correspondence.

The first is a video production/cinematography pathway, where students will learn to produce videos in various formats and deliver those videos on multiple platforms. The second program of study is a graphic design pathway, offered in conjunction with Hazard Community and Technical College. Seniors in the Media Arts program may take two graphic design classes from HCTC during school hours at the CFI, learning skills in graphic design and photo editing.
