Important Information with Laurel Co School Logo

Laurel County School District’s highest priority is the safety of our students and staff. In order to maintain a safe environment, it is necessary that we practice our emergency and crisis response plans. That practice often involves our partnerships with all local emergency agencies in Laurel County, including Laurel County Schools Police Department, Laurel County Sheriff Department, London Police Department, Kentucky State Police, Laurel County Emergency Management, London Fire Department, London/Laurel County 911 Communications Center, and all volunteer fire and emergency agencies.

During Fall Break on Thursday, October 12th, while school is not in session, Laurel County Schools Police Department will be participating with all other city and county law-enforcement and emergency agencies in an Active Shooter Training at North Laurel High and Hunter Hills Elementary Schools. This multi-agency training event will prove to be extremely beneficial for future planning in improving communications and response time in the event of a real emergency.

The Laurel County School District is pleased to have unprecedented cooperation and support from multiple first-responder agencies at one time and in one training event. Our students and staff will be the recipients of the benefits and positive outcomes of such specific and detailed coordination. We hope that we will never have to utilize these practiced procedures in a real situation, but it is important for us all to practice staying safe at school.

If you have any questions, please call the Laurel County Schools Police Department at 606-862-4600 or any of the other Laurel County law-enforcement agencies.
