Judge Chappell swearing if officers

Two veteran police officers joined the Laurel County Schools Police Department as the most recent School Resource Officers added to the force.  Officers Daniel Robinson and Glenn Smith were recently sworn in by the Honorable Judge John Chappell during their induction ceremony.

Officers Robinson and Smith bring a wealth of law enforcement experience to the Laurel County Schools Police Department. Officer Robinson recently retired in 2023 at the rank of Sergeant with the London Police Department, while Officer Smith recently retired at the rank of Sergeant with the KY Department of Fish and Wildlife. Smith also has served as an officer with the Kentucky Horse Park and the Perry County Sherriff’s Department.

Officers Smith and Robinson join sixteen other full-time law enforcement officers to protect the students and staff of Laurel County Schools.  All Laurel County school campuses have a full-time School Resource Officer, in addition to one SRO provided by the London Police Department and two SROs from the Laurel County Sheriff's Department.

Laurel County Schools is happy to provide a safe and secure learning environment for students and staff, and it appreciates the ongoing support from the City of London Police Department and the Laurel County Sheriff's Department in their collaboration with the Laurel County Schools Police Department.
