The Laurel County School District and The Prep Academy have announced screening dates for children turning age four on or before August 1, 2026, who are eligible and wish to enter preschool in the fall 2026. 

Kentucky's preschool education programs are available for all four-year-old children whose family income is no more than 160% of poverty and all three and four-year-old children with developmental delays and disabilities, regardless of income.

All screenings will be conducted at the GC Garland Administration Building, located directly behind London Elementary, at 710 North Main Street, London, KY. Parents must make an appointment for the screening by calling Michele Prichard at 606-330-4529. Scheduling will begin on March 2, 2026. Parents must schedule their child for a screening on the date established for the school district where their child resides. See below.

  • April 10th at the GCGB- Screenings on this date are for students who reside in the London and Wyan Pine Grove school districts—Appointments are available from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

  • April 17th at the GCGB- Screenings on this date are for students who reside in the Camp Ground, Hazel Green and Sublimity school districts—Appointments will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

  • April 23rd at the GCGB-Screenings on this date are for students who reside in the Cold Hill, Colony and Hunter Hills school districts —Appointments will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

  • April 24th at the GCGB-Screenings on this date are for students who reside in the Bush, Johnson, and Keavy school districts. Appointments will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Individuals who arrive without an appointment will be screened if time allows in the schedule. 

Eligible students may enroll in preschool at any time during the year.

All participants should bring the following items with them to their appointment:

1.Current proof of income for the household of children who will be 4 before August 1, 2026. (Current Pay Stubs, 2025 W2 or 2025 tax returns will be accepted.)

2. Current proof of residence (an electric or water bill only in your name.) Disconnect notices or applications for services not accepted as proof of residence.

3. An up-to-date immunization certificate (On latest Kentucky Form with an expiration date. ALL information must be ALL typed or ALL handwritten.)

4. A current physical exam on the current Kentucky Form. (The school physical for preschool cannot be older than 12 months prior to the start of preschool.)

5. The Child’s Certified Birth Certificate (issued by the state where born.)

6.   A current vision exam on the current Kentucky Form (conducted by an eye doctor.)
