Students from the Laurel County Schools Center for Innovation (CFI) recently completed a district-wide tour promoting good oral hygiene. Students in the Teaching & Learning and BioMed programs visited every elementary school in the district to celebrate National Children’s Dental Health Month.
The CFI students led interactive workshops for first-grade students, using creative hands-on activities such as scrubbing "marker germs" off laminated teeth and demonstrating proper hygiene techniques. The fun, interactive, age-appropriate demonstrations made learning about dental hygiene both engaging and memorable!
This initiative was made possible by the Elgin Foundation, which provided essential training and educational resources. Beyond the support of this program, the Elgin Foundation continues its vital partnership with local dental offices to provide free dental screenings and services for underserved Laurel County elementary students, ensuring a healthy start for every child in our district.
