Re: Unloaded Weapon Found on Campus of NLHS During Community Event
Laurel County Public Schools is aware that an unloaded weapon was discovered on North Laurel High School property tonight, after school hours, and during a community event. This was not a school event and did not involve North Laurel High School students.
Laurel County Public Schools Police Department and local authorities responded immediately and addressed the situation. One individual was questioned. The campus was searched, and no other weapons were found. At no time during the school day were students or staff in danger.
The Laurel County Schools Police Department is working fully with local law enforcement and remains committed to maintaining a safe environment for our students, staff, and community. Any additional details will be provided as they become available.
Again, there is no threat at North Laurel High School. School will be in session tomorrow, Friday, May 15. We appreciate the community’s support and cooperation.
