Laurel County Public Schools is pleased to announce Dr. Jeremy Kidd as Assistant Superintendent. In this role, Dr. Kidd will join Superintendent Denise M. Griebel and Deputy Superintendent Tharon Hurley on the executive leadership team to continue driving educational excellence across the district.
Dr. Kidd brings exceptional leadership experience and deep community roots to the district level. A dedicated 17-year veteran of Laurel County Public Schools, his commitment to education reflects a comprehensive understanding of educational operations at every level. He previously served as an instructional assistant and a high school Math and English teacher.
Throughout his administrative tenure, Dr. Kidd has cultivated environments focused on student growth, achievement, and positive culture.
South Laurel High School: During his tenure as Principal, South Laurel High School earned significant statewide and national recognition, including:
• A 2025 KSA "Blue" Rating, Kentucky's highest performance designation.
• Selection as a 2025 National Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School.
• Recognition as one of America's Best High Schools by U.S. News & World Report.
• Consecutive years of recognition for the implementation of PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) and Jostens Renaissance culture programs.
McDaniel Learning Center: Under Dr. Kidd's leadership as Principal, McDaniel Learning Center was recognized as a KDE Alternative Program of Distinction every year of his tenure.
Dr. Kidd's impact extends beyond the school building into statewide leadership roles. He was recently named KASA's 2026 Building-Level Administrator of the Year, honoring and recognizing his outstanding leadership in fostering academic excellence, strengthening school culture, and creating opportunities for students to succeed.
Dedicated to continuous professional development, Dr. Kidd serves on the KDE Commissioner's Principal Advisory Council. He has also completed premier executive training programs, including the Truist Leadership Institute for KY Principals, KASS's Kentucky Leadership Rising for Aspiring Superintendents, and KASA's Kentucky Executive Leadership Academy for Aspiring Superintendents.
