Award Recipients with presenters

Following a memorable Laurel County Homecoming, Laurel County Public Schools would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Homecoming Committee for recognizing two outstanding pillars of our educational community:

Non-Profit of the Year – Laurel County Youth Leadership Council: Dedicated to developing the next generation of leaders, the council brings together outstanding middle and high school students from across Laurel County to build leadership skills through servant leadership, community service, and meaningful engagement with their schools and communities.

Woman of the Year – Superintendent Denise M. Griebel: As the first female Superintendent of Laurel County Public Schools, Mrs. Griebel is in her 3rd year leading Kentucky’s 12th-largest school district and Laurel County’s largest employer—and her 34th year with the district overall. Under her leadership, LCPS continues its tradition of academic excellence, highlighted by recent U.S. News & World Report rankings for both high schools, five U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon awards, two National Distinguished ESEA School recognitions, and numerous other accolades. Mrs. Griebel inspires her staff daily to embody the district motto: “Doing Great Things for Kids so that Kids can do Great Things!”
